At the same time, Victor Kiplangat claimed the marathon gold, Uganda's first since 2013 in Moscow, Russia, by Steven Kiptortich.
The final medal standings of the championship place Uganda in the 11th with the two gold medals won.
The USA led the pack with 12 gold medals, while Canada (4), Spain (4), Jamaica (3) and Kenya (3) completed the top five in that order.

Uganda's 11th-place finish ranks as the best third African nation at the championships, having edged Morocco (15) and Burkina Faso (18) in the competition.
Team Uganda's other top performers include Halima Nakaayi, who finished 8th in the 800m; Peruth Chemutai, who came seventh in the 3000m steeplechase; Tarsis Orogot reached the semifinals of the 200m while Steven Kiisa finished fifth in the men's Marathon.
