The Jamaican trials start on Thursday and here are three things you should note from where to watch the event and the prize money breakdown for athletes.

The Jamaican Olympic trials will be held June 27-30 at the National Stadium in Kingston having attracted some of the greatest athletes who will be keen on making the cut to the Paris Olympics.

The event will see the likes of Shericka Jackson, Oblique Seville and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce descend on the track at the National Stadium to compete for the top honours, making the Olympic team and also earning the prize money.

Things you need to know:

1) Who will be competing?

Jackson and Fraser-Pryce, Seville are among the headliners of the event at the Jamaican Olympic trials. Jackson and Fraser-Pryce have been off to slow starts to their seasons and fans will be waiting to see how they perform at the trials.

Jackson is tipped to clinch the national sprints double for a third time in a row, since she seems to be in better shape and with the withdrawal of the fastest woman alive, Elaine Thompson-Herah, she will look to dominate.

She has only raced the 100m once this season, but she looks charged to upgrade her bronze from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in 2021 and improve on her two world silvers.

Fraser-Pryce is gearing up for what could be her last National Championships, and she will certainly look to shine. She opened her season with a 11.15 at a local 100m meeting in Kingston.

Yohan Blake, and Ackeem Blake headline the men’s sprints with the latter being in a better position to impress after silencing Noah Lyles in the same stadium.

The 22-year-old should also be part of his team’s last attempt to secure their place in the 4x400m relay at the Paris Olympics on Sunday 30 June, the final day to meet the qualifying standards for track and field athletes. Jaydon Hibbert and Shanieka Ricketts headline field events and are also tipped to impress.

2) Prize money

The Jamaican Sports Minister Olivia Grange noted that every Jamaican athlete who makes the team for the Olympic Games will receive Jamaican Dollars 360,000 (Ksh298,716).

He added that to cater for the athletes, JMD 50 million will be distributed among all Olympic participants. The Jamaican Athletics Association also noted that JMD 1 million will be rewarded to Jamaica's 4x400m relay team if they qualify for the Paris Olympics at National Championships.

3) Where to watch
