Kenya’s marathon great Eliud Kipchoge has shared one main thing that is giving him satisfaction even more than winning races or breaking records.
Marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge admits part of what is fueling him to keep going is his ability to inspire many people both young and old to succeed in their careers.
Kipchoge may have had a poor 2024 season but it has not dented his standing and popularity going by how he was mobbed during his recent visit to South East Asia.
The two-time Olympics champion got to interact with a number of his fans in China and Thailand, sharing some running tips, but also inspiring some of them to succeed in other spheres of their lives and he admits he was touched by what he witnessed, encouraging him to keep pushing.

Eliud Kipchoge on why Paris Olympics marathon race was ‘not tough’ despite dropping out
Double Olympics marathon winner Eliud Kipchoge has given reasons why he does not consider his poor performance in Paris a flop despite not finishing his race.
“That is my happiness, when I meet people and kids running to me, that is my happiness,” Kipchoge shared during an interview on Citizen TV’s JKL.
“I was in China yesterday and I met a girl who cried just to see me, she held my hand and that is what is touching me.
“To see that I inspire somebody to change her life and she can work in a factory like an engineer after losing her mind during Covid. It is really motivating to hear the stories and that is the power of sport.”

Marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge has blamed Kenyan’ steeplechase woes on a lack of morals among athletes who he claims have questionable characters that are affecting their performance.
Kipchoge has previously said he will not stop running, even when he retires, as he wants to continue inspiring people and seems to be on that path already even as he continues his quest for success.
The former marathon record holder did not enjoy a good season, when he finished 10th in Tokyo and dropped out of his Olympics race, but remains confident of a major turnaround in 2025 even though he is yet to reveal where he plans to launch his campaign.
