It is not going to be an easy run for the athletes.
The anti-doping menace committee is keen on burning the midnight oil to ensure the heinous act comes to an end in the shortest time possible.
The committee, which comprises the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports and the Arts, Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya, and Athletics Kenya (AK), presented its first report to the Sports Principal Secretary Jonathan Mueke on Friday, March 31.
In the report, AK president Jack Tuwei revealed that they plan to ensure testing of the athletes is done frequently. He added that the steering committee will also ensure the athletes and all relevant stakeholders are educated on the menace.
“Going forward, there will be a lot of testing done on the athletes. Educating the athletes, coaches, the media and all the relevant stakeholders is also in the plan,” Tuwei said.

The NOC-K president expressed optimism in government and with Athletics Kenya's joint efforts in fighting the vice.
He also said they will be more serious in the area of investigations and intelligence collection. Tuwei expressed optimism towards the strategy and said it will enable them to get rid of the menace.
“All those departments have now been rolled out and I hope things will run smoothly if our report is approved by the Cabinet Secretary,” he said.
Meanwhile, AIU head honcho Brett Clothier also sounded warning shots to the violators and reiterated what Tuwei said. He also expressed gratitude to the relevant stakeholders for working with AIU to address the problem.
“I also want to thank the Kenyan government for setting aside Ksh25 million aside to tackle the problem…this is a great commitment,” he added.
