Eliud Kipchoge ran the Bangkok 10K alongside Her Majesty Queen Suthida of Thailand.
Marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge recently took on an unfamiliar challenge in Thailand, running a 10km race as part of the Bangkok Marathon’s inspiring cultural and sports showcase.
The event, held on Sunday, brought together 33,000 participants from 77 countries, blending athleticism with Thailand’s vibrant cultural heritage.
Kipchoge ran alongside Her Majesty Queen Suthida of Thailand, leading participants past some of Bangkok’s most iconic landmarks and royal buildings.
Reflecting on the experience, Kipchoge shared his joy on Instagram, writing, "During my time here, I have experienced the beauty of Thai culture and met people from all walks of life. Today I had the honor of running the 10km in Bangkok alongside Her Majesty Queen Suthida. We passed some of Bangkok’s most iconic landmarks and royal buildings while running with thousands of participants and fans supporting along the course. Thailand is truly amazing."
This event marked a refreshing change for the long-distance maestro, who is typically known for his dominance in marathons.
Kipchoge embraced the spirit of the occasion, using the race as an opportunity to celebrate running and connect with a global community of enthusiasts.
The Bangkok run comes at a pivotal moment for Kipchoge as he looks to rebound from a challenging 2024. Earlier in the year, he placed seventh in the Tokyo Marathon, a rare setback in his otherwise stellar career.
Kipchoge also competed in the Paris 2024 Olympics, where he underwhelmingly dropped out of the race before missing out all-together on his favorite Berlin Marathon to mark a year to forget.
