Abraham Kibiwott has expressed his disappointment with failing to defend his 3000m Steeplechase title at the Kip Keino Classic revealing that jumping was his major undoing.
Kibiwott had won the 2020 and 2022 titles successfully but Amos Kirui stole the show in this year’s edition when he crossed the finish line in 8:08.45. Kibiwott settled for second place in 8:09.71 as Leonard Bett sealed the podium in 8:10.02.

Sha'Carri Richardson showed her class at the Kip Keino Classic in Kenya, dominating the 200m field in humiliating fashion.
“I was expecting to win this race because I had won in the previous two editions…unfortunately, I have not won but I thank God for the second-place finish,” he said.
He added that the loss has been an eye-opener for him and he knows the areas he needs to address as he hopes to make Team Kenya for the World Championships in Budapest in August.
He specifically highlighted jumping the barriers as his Achilles heel and promised to go back to the drawing board and address the issue.
“I had not trained well for this competition but it has been an eye-opener for me. Right now, I am aware of what I need to work on. Next in line for me is the World Championships,” he said.
