Team Nigeria will be represented by a small number of six athletes at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Trinidad and Tobago.
The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has sent a small contingent of six athletes to the Commonwealth Youth Games in Trinidad and Tobago, which begins from August 4th - 11th, and athletics scheduled to commence on August 7th.
Athletics will have Team Nigeria represented by some of its best teenage athletes, who dominated at the African U18 and U20 Championships in Zambia.
Top on the list is Samuel Ogazi, entered to compete in the 200m and 400m. Ogazi won both events in record-breaking times at the in Zambia earlier this year and will be gunning for better brilliant performances.
He is Nigeria's brightest prospect in the 200m and 400m, having clocked a sub-21s and sub-46s respectively, and won the quarter-mile bronze medal at the Nigerian Trials.

Team Nigeria women get World Championships qualifying spot as men's team miss out
Team Nigeria's women's 4x400m team temporarily secured their spot at the World Championships in Budapest, after clocking an SB at the DT/ Lagos Club Athletics Series in Yabatech.
Consequently, the women's category will have speed sensation Faith Okwose in the 100m and 200m, will be hoping to replicate Rosemary Chukwuma's 2018 feat as the 100m champion.
