Ese Brume won an historic African Games gold medal

By doing this, she became the second Nigerian woman after Modupe Oshikoya (1973 and 1978) to defend successfully a long jump title in African Games history, and the distance would have been a new record, but for the excessive wind reading.

Meanwhile, new teen sensation Prestina Ochonogor claimed the bronze medal behind Brume with a brilliant personal best of 6.67m (1.3m/s) to claim her first international medal.
