Shortly after reigning supreme at the Kip Keino Classic, Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala is not resting on his laurels as he looks forward to winning all the races lined up for him.
During the continental event held at the Moi International Sports Center in Kasarani, Omanyala beat a strong field to win the race in a world lead time of 9.84.

ATHLETICS Omanyala lives up to billing as he silences Bednarek to claim Kip Keino Classic win
Africa’s fastest man did not disappoint in what was the final race of the World Athletics Continental Tour.
American duo of Kenneth Bednarek and Marvin Bracy were forced to settle for second and third places in respective times of 9.98 and 10.03.
“I don’t want to lose any race this season and I’m glad to have started the season on a high,” he said.
Speaking about the race, Omanyala revealed that it was a good experience for him and expressed excitement about bagging the title.
“It was a good race…I had a good start off the blocks. I enjoyed the race and I want to build on that until the end of the season,” he said.
His next port of call is the Diamond League Meeting in Rabat, Morocco on Sunday, May 28 where he will face off against some of the greatest athletes in the world.
The race has so far attracted world champion Fred Kerley and Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs who will also be renewing their rivalry since the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

He admitted that he is aware of the tough test that awaits him but he is confident he will upset the opponents.
“I know it will be a tough race but I know it will be good. I want to go and shine and make sure I break those times,” he said.
The 27-year-old will be making his debut at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary later this year and he is sure of displaying a great show at the global show. “I am sure I win the World Championships and there’s no doubt about that,” he said.
