Alexander Mutiso has shared the sweet memories he holds of the streets of Valencia as he gets ready to go for top honours in Sunday's race.

Reigning Prague Marathon champion Alexander Mutiso is banking on the mastery of the course to impress at the Valencia Marathon on Sunday, December 3.

Mutiso expressed his excitement upon his return to the streets of Valencia after his astonishing third-place finish last year when he was debuting. He clocked a Personal Best time of 2:03:29 to cross the finish line.

The Kenyan also has sweet memories of the streets of Valencia since it is the place where he clocked his Personal Best time over the Half Marathon during the 2020 edition. His Personal Best time over the full marathon is 2:03:29.

“I’m happy to be invited to compete in Valencia one more time. This is the place where I have run my Personal Best times in the Half Marathon and full marathon.

"I’m looking forward to running a Personal Best time…I have so many great memories of the Valencia Marathon,” Mutiso said.

Mutiso will enjoy the company of compatriot Kibiwott Kandie who will also be looking to impress. Kandie has sweet memories of the streets of Valencia since it was the place where he set the half marathon world record before it was stripped off him.

The Kenyan also won the half marathon a few weeks ago and will be keen to build on that and make an impact.

The duo will face tough opposition from the likes of Joshua Cheptegei who will be making his long-awaited marathon debut and Gabriel Geay of Tanzania who will be hoping to shake off the Sydney Marathon disappointment. Marathon legend Kenenisa Bekele will also be in the mix with the hunt for top honours.
