The Olympian criticised the US Track and Field federation for delayed per diem payments after the Paris Olympics and highlighted the need for change in the sport.

Olympian Alaysha Johnson has reacted to the US Track and Field federation sending out the Paris Olympic Games per diem months after the star-studded event closed curtains.

Track and field events at the Paris Olympic Games ran from August 1 to 11 and the athletes expected to be catered for within that period but had to take money out of their pockets as they waited for the federation to clear them.

However, that seemed to take longer than expected as they were paid some days ago with the American hurdler taking to her X handle to make fun of the situation while addressing the need for change in the federation.

She revealed that they received, $ 190, which is about Ksh 25,000 but did not reveal whether that was for each day or the amount catered for all the time they spent in the French capital.

“The USA just sent out the per diem for the Paris Olympics that happened in August… it was $190. Go, Team, 😂🤪,” she said in the post.

Alaysha Johnson has been very vocal about the things that need to change in track and field and she recently talked about why Netflix’s Sprint docuseries should consider including hurdlers as they play a huge role in spicing things up.

The 28-year-old disclosed that there are a number of hurdlers who have great personalities, her not being an exception as she is a whole vibe on and off the track. Masai Russell and Grant Holloway are also among the hurdlers with great personalities.

“Can’t name a hurdler on the line that couldn’t turn that Netflix up TBH. We are all steppers in real life 🤝🏽 & we all have completely different stories! Thank you for the acknowledgement,” she said, agreeing with Justin Gatlin on including other sprint athletes in the docuseries.

At the Paris Olympic Games, Johnson hoped to have a better outing but things did not go as planned as she was forced to settle for seventh place in the final. She struggled to process her performance and go back into training but after some time, things became better and she managed to bounce back.

She capped off her season with a second-place finish at Alexis Ohanian’s Athlos NYC in the women’s 100m hurdles. The race was won by Jasmine Camacho-Quinn.
