American sprint legend Michael Johnson has revealed the qualities that the American duo of Quincy Wilson and Christian Miller have that set them apart from other young sprinters.
Miller, 18, and Wilson, 16, were in action at the US Olympic trials, both bidding to make the cut to the Olympic team in their individual events but the task proved tough as they failed to make the cut to a podium place.
Competing in the 100m, Miller, a University of Georgia student, finished fifth in the men’s 100m, behind world indoor champion Christian Coleman. The race was won by triple world champion Noah Lyles with Olympic silver medallist Kenny Bednarek and former world champion Fred Kerley finishing second and third respectively.

16-year-old record-breaking American wunderkid hopeful of making 4x400m relay team for Paris Olympics
Quincy Wilson is still hopeful of being a teenage Olympian in 4 by 400m relay team after narrowly missing out on the 400m team.
In the men’s 400m final, Wilson managed a sixth-place finish, with the race being won by Quincy Hall with Michael Norman and Chris Bailey finishing second and third.
Speaking about the duo, the four-time Olympic gold medallist explained that they have been a definition of maturity on the track despite being teenagers.
“Quincy Wilson and Christian Miller both have great natural talent, but what’s most impressive is they exhibit advanced race maturity for their age,” Johnson said in a tweet.

The duo will now be hoping to be selected in their respective relay teams, with Miller having the 200m to bid for an Olympic slot. He will face opposition at the event since he will be going up against the likes of Lyles, Bednarek, Kerley, Coleman and Courtney Lindsey once again.
As per the USA track and field guidelines, three of the five competitors for each relay team must be athletes who are entered in their corresponding individual event meaning Lyles, Bednarek and Kerley have automatically been selected in the 4x100m relay team. The 4x400m automatically has Hall, Norman and Bailey in the team.
One reserve athlete can also be named with the other two selections made at the discretion of the USATF committee, which includes “medical or exceptional circumstances” for a waiver request to be granted.
