With Shericka Jackson pulling out of the 100m race at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Justin Gatlin has made his predictions on who will win the women's event.

American sprint icon Justin Gatlin has made a damning 100m women’s prediction as the final of the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympics draws even nearer.

The field is stacked with some proper talent, with Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce set to take on the likes of reigning world champion Sha’Carri Richardson , as well as Julian Alfred of Saint Lucia.

Another favorite Shericka Jackson pulled out of the 100m race as she continues managing her injury, which has curtailed her for most of the season.

Now, Gatlin has made a damning verdict as to who would win, having given his predictions based on two possible outcomes, all related to Jackson’s availability.

Gatlin believes that Richardson is the favorite for the gold, with Alfred claiming silver, while Fraser-Pryce will take home the bronze.

“If it is a healthy Shericka, I have got Sha’Carri, Shericka and Julian,” Gatlin predicted on his latest episode of the Ready Set Go podcast alongside Maurice Greene.

Gatlin has made his verdict on the soon-to-retire Shelly-Ann Fraser-Price, who has not delivered a gold medal at a major event since her 2022 title at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

“I watched a clip of her and I think she looked good, I ain't gonna lie. She definitely is in that category for that dark horse position.

“She hit that start like she is supposed to. We know that she can and she follows it down that track, that podium might be in trouble for somebody.”

“If it is an unhealthy Shericka, I will go with Sha’Carri, Julian, Shelly-Ann.”

In an earlier podcast, Gatlin had revealed what Richardson learnt about her racing which contributed massively towards her success last season.

" I think she realised from the last world championships that it is really all about that moment.

“You can have an amazing season or a trash season but it depends on how you operate once that gun goes off and cross over that line to determine the true success of your season cause that is what your goal is.”
