Favour Ashe is gunning to become Nigeria's third sprinter in history to run a 6.4s in the 60m.
Favour Ashe has had an exceptional start to the 2023 indoor season so far, which has seen him clock the fastest 60m time by a Nigerian and African athlete this year, and third on the NCAA top list.
The Auburn University sophomore student has been named the Track and Field athlete of the week after setting a season's best time of 6.53s at the Tiger Paw Invitational last weekend.

He now has his target set on winning the South Eastern Conference (SEC) Championships 60m title next week and going under the 6.50s mark for the first time in his career.
"My goals going into SEC next weekend in Arkansas, I'm looking forward to lowering my PB, at least doing 6.48, 6.49, and I know yea with I've been doing in practice, I think that at SEC and also I want to be the SEC Champion in the 60m," Ashe said in a video interview with Mackenzie Hamilton on the school's Twitter page.

To accomplish this, the 20-year-old will have to surpass his lifetime best of 6.51s and become the third Nigerian sprinter to achieve this in history, after Deji Aliu's National Record (NR) of 6.48s and Olusoji Fasuba's 6.49s.
Ashe is one of Nigeria's poster athletes in the NCAA, having broken several records and won medals as a freshman student at University of Tennessee. He only transferred to Auburn this season to complete his college career.
