Olympic bronze medallist and ATHLOS standout sprinter Brittany Brown wants Diamond League organisers to invest more in prize earnings for athletes.
Following her outstanding display at the inaugural ATHLOS track meet where she was the highest-earning athlete, American speedster Brittany Brown penned a message comparing her pay with Diamond League winnings.
The ATHLOS track meet offered the largest-ever purse for a women-only competition across all races and was sponsored by Alexis Ohanian- founder of Reddit and husband to tennis legend Serena Williams.
Brown finished the meet as the highest earner after securing a second-place finish in the 100m event behind Marie Josee Ta Lou-Smith in 11.05s and claimed the 200m victory over pre-race favourite Gabby Thomas in 22.18s, while the Olympic champion clocked 22.21s.
For her brilliant performances, Brown earned a cash total of $85,000 - $60,000 as the winning prize in the 100m and $25,000 for second position.
She will then post on her X page asking for more investment in the Diamond League.
"In 33 seconds I made some pro track and field athletes base shoe contract. Do you understand that? Even if would've won both the 100 and 200 at the DL final I still wouldn’t have made the amount of money I made last night. INVESTMENT," she wrote.
Brown had an exceptional 2024 season which saw her claim the Olympic 200m bronze medal in Paris in addition to the Diamond League title in Brussels.
