Sha'carri Richardson defeated a star-studded field that included double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah to make a bold statement at the Prefontaine Classic Diamond League in Eugene.

World's fastest woman Sha'Carri Richardson bounced back to winning ways in domineering fashion, defeating a star-studded 100m field in 10.83s at the Prefontaine Classic Diamond League in Eugene.

The American speedster running in front of her home crowd stormed to the needed victory to defeat world 60m champion Julien Alfred in 10.93s, while Great Britain's record holder Dina Asher-Smith was third in 10.98s.

Daryll Neita with two consecutive Diamond League victories this season settled for fourth in 11.00s ahead of former US champion Melissa Jefferson in 11.02s, while Africa's fastest woman Marie Josee Ta Lou-Smith finished sixth in 11.05s.

Surprisingly, double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah was last in 11.30s, behind Tee Tee Terry and Brittany Brown.

Richardson's domineering performance in Eugene outrightly shows she's back to her best form, after unimpressive start to the season with back-to-back 200m losses at the Xiamen and Suzhou Diamond League meets.

With this emphatic victory, the world 100m champion has now propelled herself as the one to beat for the rest of the season, making her the top challenger for the Olympic title in Paris.
