After calling on his fellow American sprinters to help break the World Record held by a Jamaican squad, Noah Lyles will have to wait another year following a new revelation about the World Relays.
Noah Lyles's dreams of breaking the 4x200m World Record could be in shambles following a new revelation regarding the World Relays in Bahamas.
Earlier in the season, the world's fastest man called on his fellow American sprinters to assist in breaking the Jamaican 4x200m World Record at this year's World Relays.
Lyles posted on his X page, tagging young speed sensation Erriyon Knighton and Olympic silver medallist Kenny Bednarek.
"Yo @ErriyonK @kenny_bednarek we should go break that 4x200m world record," he wrote.
To which Bednarek replied: "Count me in. About time the Olympics and World Champs include it too."
The Jamaican squad of Nickel Ashmeade, Warren Weir, Nickel Ashmeade, Jermaine Brown, and Yohan Blake set the current 4x200m World Record of 1:18.63.
Interestingly, the American team has the talent to break this record, and if it's going by the team Lyles has set up, they are more than capable of smashing it, considering they've both gone below the 19.70s mark.
However, they would need a fourth man to make up the squad, which wouldn't be a problem considering the pool of sprinters the USA can pick from to do the damage.

'Breaking the 100m WR will take a long time' - Michael Johnson and Asafa Powell agree on erasing Usain Bolt's World Records
Track legends Michael Johnson and Asafa Powell are in agreement on what it takes to break Usain Bolt's World Records.
Among these pool of selections with impressive times in the 200m are Christian Coleman, Fred Kerley, Courtney Lindsey, and Micheal Norman.
Unfortunately, Lyles and his squad would have to wait till next year to attempt this feat as this season's World Relays is a qualifier for the Olympics and only the 4x100m, 4x400m, and mixed 4x400m will be contested.
