“I’m not really good at road running…I always just try. During my race in Riga, I didn’t even know how to go about the race.

"When I was around the 300m mark I realised that we were about to finish the race but I had no clue about it…but I tried hard to kick and I got the win. It was my first road race,” Chebet explained as per Nation Sport.

Meanwhile, the former World 5000m silver medallist has enjoyed a great season that started off with her dominant win at the World Cross-country Championships.

She then extended her winning streak to the Kip Keino Classic where exerted her dominance with victory. She built up for the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary with several races at the Diamond League Meetings.

The Commonwealth Games champion then went ahead to finish third behind Faith Kipyegon and Sifan Hassan at the global showpiece. She then completed her season with a gold medal at the World Road Running Championships.
