She heads to a star-studded field in London where she is set to gauge her form and know what she ought to improve on ahead of the World Championships.

World 3000m Steeplechase record holder Beatrice Chepkoech will be in action at the Diamond League Meeting in London on Sunday, July 22 as she gears up for a fruitful outing at the World Championships set for August 19 to 27 in Budapest, Hungary.

Chepkoech missed out on last year’s global event in Eugene, Oregon due to an injury setback but she has since announced her return and will be hoping to reclaim the world title and lead a Kenyan podium sweep in Budapest.

The 32-year-old heads to a star-studded field in London where she is set to gauge her form and know what she ought to improve on ahead of the World Championships.

She will enjoy the company of compatriots Jackline Chepkoech, who is also on the team selected for the World Championships, and Fancy Cherono.

Jackline, just like Chepkoech, has also had a great start to her season and will be hoping to maintain the hot streak as she heads to the English capital. She is just fresh from finishing second at the Athletics Kenya World Championships National Trials.

On her part, Cherono has had a mixed first half to her season and will be keen to make amends as she heads to London. The fastest she has timed this season is 9:32.93, quite a slow time, and has only recorded a win once, during the Kenya Prisons Track and Field Championships.

The Kenyan trio will face tough competition from Ethiopia’s Zerfe Wondemagegn who will be hunting for her first win of the season. The Ethiopian has only competed in three 3000m Steeplechase races and has managed to finish among the top 10 in all of them.

Another one to watch in the mix will be USA’s Courtney Wayment who has only competed in three races. Wayment goes into the race psyched up after a third-place finish at the USA Championships.
