In a landmark ruling, Nigeria's hurdling hero Tobi Amusan has been cleared by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), triumphing in a significant anti-doping battle.
Nigeria’s track and field superstar Tobi Amusan has been sensationally cleared of any anti-doping rule violations by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
The 26-year-old world record holder had been embroiled in a high-profile dispute with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) over alleged whereabouts failures.

Tobi Amusan Freed by CAS
However, CAS has now dismissed the appeals filed by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) and WADA, confirming the decision made by the World Athletics Disciplinary Tribunal last August that Amusan did not commit any anti-doping offences.
In a damning verdict, the CAS panel unanimously concluded that while Amusan had committed two filing failures, they did not find evidence to support the alleged third whereabouts failure that would have resulted in a two-year ban.
'Accordingly, the Challenged Decision in which the WADT considered that Tobi Amusan did not violate Rule 2.4 of the WA Anti-Doping Rules (WA ADR) and that no period of ineligibility should be imposed on the Athlete is confirmed,' the CAS statement read.
The decision will come as a huge relief for Amusan and her army of adoring fans in Nigeria, who have been staunchly supporting their national hero throughout this arduous legal battle.
Amusan, affectionately known as the 'Tobi Express', has been in super shape and form in recent years, smashing the women's 100m hurdles world record en route to winning gold at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene.
Her triumph in Oregon was a moment of immense national pride for Nigeria, and this latest CAS ruling will only serve to enhance her status as one of the country's most iconic sporting figures.
With her name now firmly cleared, Amusan can now turn her attention to the upcoming Paris Olympics, where she will be bidding to add Olympic gold to her ever-growing collection of silverware.
This is a landmark victory not just for Amusan, but for clean sport and the fight against the scourge of doping that has plagued athletics in recent years. The 'Tobi Express' rolls on, leaving her doubters firmly in the dust.
