Brian Komen has made his remarks following his commanding victory that saw him silence Timothy Cheruiyot and Reynold Cheruiyot at the Diamond League Meeting in Doha, Qatar.
African Games 1500m champion Brian Komen stunned a strong field of world champions and Olympians at the Diamond League Meeting in Doha and he strongly believes it is a good sign as he eyes the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The Kenyan oozed class as he claimed the title in 3:32.43 ahead of former World champion Timothy Cheruiyot who clocked a season best time of 3:32.67 to cross the finish line. Reynold Cheruiyot completed the podium after stopping the clock at 3:32.96.

Timothy Cheruiyot confirmed for star-studded Bowerman Mile field in history at the Prefontaine Classic
Former World 1500m champion Timothy Cheruiyot has been confirmed for this year’s Bowerman Mile at the Prefontaine Classic, the most stacked in history.
The race was a tight one, with Komen having to dig deeper for the win, going up against Cheruiyot, who is just making a return from an injury bout that saw him have a disastrous season in 2023.

“I’m happy…it shows that my training is good towards the Olympics. I want to maintain my shape and improve in some areas as I look to qualify for the Games and win a medal for my country,” Komen said.
He noted that it was his first competing at the meeting in Doha, Qatar and lauded the fans for cheering him on as he went to win the race. “There was a lot of wind and it’s also hot…It was not easy competing in this weather,” Komen added.
This marks his third victory in the 1500m since the season started with the African Games national trials where he won the race.
The Kenyan then proceeded to the African Games where he stunned his continental opponents to take the top prize before settling for second at the Kip Keino Classic on home soil.
