Coleman lost the second Diamond League race of the season to Simbine after winning in Xiamen in the opener last weekend.
American sprinter Christian Coleman found silver lining in his second-place finish at the Suzhou Diamond League meet, despite missing out on the top spot to South Africa's Akani Simbine.
Coleman crossed the line in second with a time of 10.04 seconds, trailing behind Simbine, who clinched victory with a time of 10.1 seconds. Fellow American Fred Kerley completed the podium with a time of 10.11 seconds.
Coleman, who demonstrated exceptional form at the Diamond League Meeting series opener in Xiamen the previous weekend, had aimed to extend his winning streak in Suzhou.
However, Simbine proved to be a formidable opponent, seizing the opportunity to secure victory.
Reflecting on his performance, Coleman acknowledged improvements from his previous race and highlighted the importance of progress.
"Just decent. I feel like I improved from last week and did some things better with my start today so I feel it is like putting it all together so I feel like mission accomplished coming over here having two races and now we can go back, look at the film and train some and just continue to progress,e stated, " as reported by Citius Mag.
Despite falling short of victory, Coleman remained optimistic about his future prospects, emphasizing his ongoing journey of improvement. "I know I have so much more to do and so much more to go and I think that was the plan coming over here, to be able to come race and execute while we still have a load on our legs," he explained.
Coleman expressed confidence in his ability to continue evolving as an athlete, recognizing the importance of refining his execution in future competitions.’
"Now going back in training and tapering off is the time where things will just keep progressing but I feel like I definitely just could have executed it better today so you always want to win the big things," he added. "I feel good about it in terms of me (wanting to) continue improving."
