Former world 100m champions Christian Coleman has made his prediction on who he thinks can finally break the 4x100m relay world record that has stood since 2012.
Former world 100m champions Christian Coleman believes USA has the talent capable of breaking the 4x100m relay world record soon if they have good preparations.
The 4x100m relay world record has stood for 12 years since Jamaica, lead by Usain Bolt, alongside Nester Carter, Yohane Blake and Michael Frater, set it at 36.84 at the 2012 London Olympics.
No country has come close since then but Coleman, who will likely be on the US team this year, feels they can lower it at the Paris 2024 Olympics given the likes of Noah Lyles and Fred Kerley are likely to link up with him in the French capital.

World 100m champion Sha’Carri Richardson has received high praise from her fellow American sprinter whom she is rumoured to be in a relationship with.
“Everyone’s goal first of all is to make the team and whoever makes that team will be capable of getting onto that relay pull and doing something special,” Coleman said in Xiamen on Friday, on the eve of the Diamond League season opener on Saturday.
“The thing for America has always been making sure we have enough time to practice and stick around the track.
“Other countries are set, they know the four or five guys who are going to be on the team and for us, we find out a few weeks before the actual games start and so we put so much emphasis on just making it and trying to get into that individual event.”
Coleman feels what has been pulling USA back has been an inability by the relay team to train together for a long time but is backing them to make it happen soon if they can get their act together.
“We do not have enough time to train and practice together but I think some of the guys me, Fred, Noah we have been on our teams kind of consistently and have built up a little bit of rapport and so we can be kind of counted as some of the guys that should be favourite of going there making the team,” added Coleman.
“Even looking back at the World Championships race last year, we had a lot of things we can clean up and she still ran a pretty fast time, we won which was the goal, but I think if we put it all together, at the right time and in the right moment, I think the world record is definitely within our reach.”
