After 17 years of competition Christian Taylor will retire at the Holloway Classic the site of his first major triumph.

Two-time Olympic triple jump Champion Christian Taylor will mark the end of an illustrious athletic career this Friday at the Holloway Classic in Florida.

At 34, Taylor is set to retire with a legacy that includes two Olympic golds and four World Championship titles.

The University of Florida, where Taylor honed his skills and shattered records, will host his final appearance at the James G. Pressly Stadium.

This last event promises to be a nostalgic yet celebratory farewell for Taylor, whose personal best of 18.21m ranks him second on the all-time list, just behind Jonathan Edwards' world record.

"Olympic Legend @taylored2jump (Christian Taylor) will be competing in the final event of his career at the upcoming Holloway Pro Classic! Join us for the Holloway Pro Classic at the University of Florida’s James G. Pressly Stadium!" announced the retirement post on Instagram, a collaboration with the American Track League.

Taylor's journey in triple jump is highlighted by a technique that involves a sprint down the runway followed by a hop, a step, and a jump into the sand pit.

His first significant Olympic victory came at the 2012 London Games, where he took off on his left leg.

This victory was soon followed by another triumph at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games, where he astonishingly switched to taking off on his right leg due to severe patellar tendonitis, also known as jumper’s knee.

The change was necessitated by medical advice which warned Taylor of the long-term consequences of not switching—potentially spending the rest of his life with a limp.

Throughout his career, Taylor was closely challenged by his college teammate and friend Will Claye, who is also a decorated triple jumper with two Olympic silvers and a bronze in the long jump.

Taylor's strength of character was further demonstrated when he reached out to Claye for support following a ruptured Achilles, an injury Claye had suffered shortly before.
