Coach Patrick Sang has shared the main reason why he wants Eliud Kipchoge to triumph at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Eliud Kipchoge’s coach Patrick Sang has disclosed why he wants Eliud Kipchoge to win his third straight Olympic title.
If Kipchoge manages the feat, he will be the only man to ever have won three Olympic titles in the marathon, something setting him up for a seat at the high table.
However, Sang is not primarily motivated by the history aspect but he wants Kipchoge to show the world that anything is possible under the sun. Speaking to Athletics Weekly, Sang explained that the world will have its own way of interpreting the win but for him, Kipchoge will get people talking.

Paris Olympics: 3 formidable runners threatening Eliud Kipchoge's bid for third gold medal
Kipchoge faces tough competition in his bid for a third Olympic gold from elite runners in Paris 2024 Marathon.
“To me, my prayers are that he wins. When he gets there and he wins, I think we have different ways of interpreting it. I remember the 1:59 challenge, if you look what happened in the curriculum in some schools, it had a lot of impact,” Sang said.
“If he gets there, to me what is more important is that we will see longevity in a different perspective. We will see different possibilities as people, people who love sport, even the scientists would want to know, is it the mind only or is it the body?” he added.
