Four years ago, Usain Bolt effortlessly shut down Tyreek Hill's sprint challenge with a blistering 4.22-second 40-yard dash.

Usain Bolt has reminded the world why he remains untouchable as the fastest man in history recalling a playful yet telling exchange with NFL star Tyreek Hill.

Despite retiring from professional athletics in 2017, Bolt has not shied away from opportunities to flex his unmatched speed, including a memorable 40-yard dash that left fans—and Hill—in awe.

The conversation between the eight-time Olympic champion and the Buffalo Bills’ wide receiver occurred during a Gatorade-sponsored event, where the two athletes crossed paths.

Recalling the moment during an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Bolt shared.

“Me & Tyreek Hill got into it 1 time because he’s also a Gatorade-sponsored athlete, and we were sitting and talking, and he was like, ‘Yo, you could take me?’ and he was talking bla bla bla," he said as per SportsKeeda.

Bolt did not let the challenge slide as the 100-meter world record holder took his chance to prove a point at the NFL Combine in 2019, where he ran a jaw-dropping 4.22 seconds in sweats and sneakers—matching the NFL Combine record set by John Ross in 2017.

Unlike the football players competing in optimized conditions with cleats and warmups, Bolt’s performance was casual and effortless.

“Then I went to the combine after one year, and if you go on the net right now... I ran 4.22 in my sweats,” Bolt added.

“I was like, come on Tyreek, you got no chance whatsoever.”

The moment, which took place during an NFL Experience event at Super Bowl LIII, became the stuff of legend.

Fans marveled at Bolt’s ability to match the best in the NFL despite being far removed from his competitive peak.

While the time was unofficial, it underscored the Jamaican’s enduring dominance in the realm of speed.

Fast forward to 2024, and Bolt’s record-breaking NFL dash was brought back into the spotlight after University of Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy set a new NFL Combine record with a time of 4.21 seconds.

The achievement spurred comparisons between Worthy and Bolt, with some fans suggesting Worthy might now be faster.

American sprinter and reigning Olympic champion Noah Lyles quickly came to Bolt’s defense, reminding critics of the circumstances under which Bolt recorded his 4.22-second dash.

“Do we have to show the video of him running that time with jeans, no cleats, and no warming up. Just to remind y’all,” Lyles wrote in a social media post.

While Worthy’s time is impressive, the comparisons appear misplaced when considering Bolt’s achievements, including the still-standing 100m world record of 9.58 seconds.

Additionally, Bolt’s ability to clock a near-record 40-yard dash in non-ideal conditions emphasizes the once-in-a-generation nature of his talent.

As for Hill and Bolt’s rivalry, the prospect of a head-to-head race remains a tantalizing possibility.

Both athletes have expressed interest in making it happen, with speculation mounting that a showdown could occur in early 2025.

Lyles hinted at an event of epic proportions, likening it to the high-profile Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul boxing exhibition.
