Despite missing out on the Olympic team, Conseslus Kipruto has offered wise words of advice to the youngsters selected to represent the country on how best they can reclaim the title.
Conseslus Kipruto was hoping to make his final Olympic team but he faded to a disappointing 10th place with the top honours being taken by youngster Amos Serem.
Simon Koech and Abraham Kibiwott finished second and third respectively in the race. Despite missing out on a ticket to the Olympic Games, Kipruto had some wise words to share with upcoming steeplechasers.
Speaking to Pulse Sports, the 29-year-old encouraged the athletes who had made the team to keep working hard and ensure they watch their diets ahead of the tough task awaiting them.

Moroccan star Soufiane El Bakkali out to deny Kenyans steeplechase title at Paris 2024 Olympics
Serial steeplechaser Soufiane El Bakkali is looking to make it difficult for Team Kenya to reclaim the steeplechase title at this year's Olympic Games in Paris, France.
“I want to motivate and encourage them because since 2019, we are yet to reclaim our world title and I want them to try hard and bring back the Olympic title,” Kipruto said.
The former Olympic champion insisted that he is in great shape this season unlike last season when he bid to go to the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary but missed out following a challenge he encountered during the trials. He opened his season at the Diamond League Meeting in Rabat where he faded to finish 18th in the race.
“Last month I went to Morocco but I didn’t open the season the way I expected but I had a problem and I have now worked on it.
“I think I’m doing much better right now unlike last year…I am now doing okay and I have so much faith in myself. Last year I wanted to go to the World Championships but I got a problem and had to withdraw but now I’m doing well,” Kipruto said.
