Simiu took his chances and they paid off well as he stunned his competitors to win the race in 26:57.80.

World 10,000m silver medallist Daniel Simiu has extended his hot streak to the Diamond League Meeting in Brussels, Belgium.

The men’s 10,000m race was Simiu’s first race since his exit from the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary and he managed to stun his opponents one more.

With the absence of serial threat Jacob Kiplimo, Simiu took his chances and they paid off well as he stunned his competitors to win the race in a Personal Best time of 26:57.80 as Frenchman Jimmy Gressier held onto him to finish second in 27:25.48

Coming from an injury upset, Stanely Waithaka put up a good fight to finish third in the highly contested race. He clocked a Season Best time of 27:30.36 to cross the finish line ahead of Germany's Amanal Petros who also clocked a Personal Best time of  

Nicholas Kimeli faded to finish a disappointing fifth as he clocked 28:05.12 to cross the finish line. 

Meanwhile, in the women's 1500m, Nelly Chepchirchir did not disappoint as she put in the work and managed to finish third in 3:56.93. 

In the hotly contested race, Great Britain's Laura Muir carried the day after clocking a Season Best time of 3:55.34. Ireland's Ciara Mageean finished second in a Personal Best time of 3:55.87. 

The men's 800m race saw Wycliffe Kinyamal falter as he faded to finish a distant seventh in 1:44.38. African champion Djamel Sedjati of Algeria took top honours in a time of 1:43.60 as Frenchman Yanis Meziane settled for second in a Personal Best time of 1:43.94. Botswana's Tshepiso Masalela finished third in a PB time of 1:44.03. 

The women's 5000m race saw Lilian Kasait carry the day after clocking 14:26.14 to cross the finish line first ahead of Ethiopia's Medina Eisa who finished second in 14:28.94. Japan's Nozomi Tanaka completed the podium after timing 14:29.18.
