ATHLETICS Meet Eldama Ravine-based athlete ready to follow Eliud Kipchoge's footsteps
Kelvin Kiplagat, an athlete from Eldama Ravine has opened up on his admiration for marathon king Eliud Kipchoge and World Half Marathon silver medallist Daniel Simiu.
The event is scheduled for Sunday 28 April, with around 26,000 runners expected to toe the starting line, ranging from amateur athletes to the international elite.
The day before, Saturday, the children's and youth run “The Tenth presented by Rewe” takes place, with around 12,000 participants taking to the start line.

Koech will be up against his compatriot, Samwel Mailu, who won the 2023 Vienna Marathon and secured the bronze medal at the 2023 World Half Marathon Championships.

ATHLETICS Kelvin Kiptum inks new brand ambassador deal
Kelvin Kiptum has signed a partnership deal with Azamfit, a leading global smart wearables brand, as he seeks to break more barriers at the Rotterdam Marathon and Olympic Games.
Mailu will be Koech’s greatest challenger in the race owing to his newly-found mastery of the marathons.
He seeks to continue his winning streak and will not be stopping at anything short as he looks to upset his compatriot.
Abdisa Tola from Ethiopia will be at the start with his strong time of 2:05:42 hours achieved at the 2023 Dubai Marathon.
The international field of participants includes other outstanding runners, including Tsedat Ayana (Ethiopia, 2:06:18), Felix Kipkoech (Kenya, 2:07:44), Liam Adams (Australia, 2:08:39), Amaury Paquet (Belgium, 2:08:44) and Martin Musau (Uganda, 2:08:45), who won the Haspa Marathon Hamburg 2021 under the conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic.
