Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has encouraged double-world record holder Faith Kipyegon and other athletes to be keen on investing to avoid living impoverished lives in the future.
Gachagua, speaking during the awarding ceremony of Kipyegon and Ferdinand Omanyala at State House on Tuesday morning, encouraged the duo to be prudent in the way they invest their earnings.

“I want to ask our athletes to think about the future when they are investing the earnings they get from their accomplishments. It is very saddening to see people who have been successful living in poverty when they retire.
"I want to invite Faith, Omanyala, and all other athletes to look for ways of investing. And Faith should you have a problem with how exactly you can invest, I am available, I’m a very prudent businessman. I can guide you around to make sure that you succeed,” he said.
He also joked about how he could have been an athlete back then since athletes tend to make a lot of money.
