He has so far participated in two Half Marathons where he has achieved a top-five finish.

Uganda’s ace Joshua Cheptegei is set to make his full marathon debut at the Valencia Marathon on December 3.

Cheptegei has competed in the streets of Valencia in a couple of races and has recorded good times, something he will be hoping to replicate when he takes on the world’s best for the 42km race.

In a post on NN Running Team’s Twitter account, Cheptegei confirmed in a video that he will be going to the streets of Valencia for the full marathon. He said: “See you on December 3rd in Valencia.”

The NN Running team is Cheptegei's management which also managed World marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge and double world record holder Faith Kipyegon among other elite athletes. 

Cheptegei has ruled the tracks and roads and he is now ready to conquer the full marathon. The 26-year-old is a is the current World record holder in both the 10,000m and 5,000m races.

He is also a two-time World champion, titles he achieved during the 2019 and 2022 World Championships where he won back-to-back titles in the 10,000m. He is also an Olympic champion and a former World Cross-country Champion.

He has so far participated in two Half Marathons where he has achieved a top-five finish. He finished fourth at the 2020 World Half Marathon Championships and improved to second during this year’s New York City Half Marathon.

Cheptegei will be hoping to extend his hot streak to the marathon, with the hope of achieving more glory.
