Here's the official update from Elaine Thompson-Herah concerning her injury scare at the NYC Grand Prix.

Double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah has officially provided an update on her injury scare sustained at the NYC Grand Prix.

The Jamaican track legend finished eighth in the women's 100m race, clocking 11.48s (-2.1). Immediately after crossing the finish line, she removed her spikes and was limping.

A few moments later, she needed assistance to be carried off track, and fans have raised concerns that her Achilles injury suffered in the past two years may be back - thus may halt her progress ahead of the Jamaican trials and being at the Paris Olympic Games.

Thompson-Herah has now released a statement concerning the worrying moment by posting on her Instagram page.

"I felt something uncomfortable as I began to push I still tried to go but it got worse” so I am awaiting professional advice moving forward” thanks for your continuous support 🙏🏾," wrote the world's fastest woman alive.

With the Jamaican trials just less than three weeks away, hopefully, the scare won't be serious so she can be back training soon enough to compete for a spot and chase her Olympic dream of making history in Paris.
