Event Director Moses Tanui is keen to avoid last year's misfortune.
Eldoret City Marathon Director Moses Tanui has announced that the dates of the fifth edition of the event have been changed from April 16 to June 26.
Tanui said the change comes because the organisers have been negotiating with a new partner, Golazo Right Here, to join and support the event.
“The technical team and management have decided to postpone the marathon to June 26. We are negotiating to bring a new partner on board and that has led to the change in dates,” Tanui said.
He encouraged the athletes to register in large numbers when the registration begins on Friday, April 14. He added that they have started their meetings and will be keen to avoid the repetition of last year’s misfortunes.

ATHLETICS Sharon Lokedi on why 2022 New York City Marathon will forever remain special
In her debut, Lokedi displayed phenomenal performance to win the marathon in 2:23:23.
During last year’s edition, the winners complained of not being paid in good time. During a media briefing held in March this year, Tanui promised that they will settle their dues as soon as possible.
The fourth edition of the annual road race saw Victor Kipchirchir and Emily Chebet clinch the men's and women’s titles in times of 2:13:10 and 2:29:58 respectively.
“As a retired athlete, I want this marathon to be there forever. We shall stand by the athletes and we shall make sure the marathon is successful,” he said.
