After the double victory at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, triple world record holder Faith Kipyegon has now shifted focus to the World Road Running Championships in Riga, Latvia from September 30 to October 1.
She will be competing in the road mile with compatriots Nelly Chepchirchir and world 3000m Steeplechase record holder Beatrice Chepkoech and together, they will work together to bring glory back to Kenya.

Kiplagat clocked 2:01:52 to cut the tape ahead of Israel’s Maru Teferi who clocked 2:09:12 to finish second.
Asked about plans to attack the road mile world record, Kipyegon remained hesitant but promised that she would certainly look to do her best at the event.
“That’s an interesting question first of all. However, I want us to enjoy the race and I look forward to running in Latvia.
I expect to run well while there and hopefully break the world record there running my first World Championship in the road mile,” Kipyegon said.
The men’s Road Mile will feature the 2019 World 1500m champion Timothy Cheruiyot, Abel Kipsang, and reigning World Under-20 champion Reynold Cheruiyot.
Others selected to compete at the global showpiece comprise Jacob Krop, Nicholas Kimeli, and Cornelius Kemboi in the men’s 5km race. The women’s charge will be led by Carolyn Nyaga, Commonwealth Games 5000m champion Beatrice Chebet and Lilian Kasait.
