Record breaker Faith Kipyegon has been treated to a heroic welcome in her home county after her glamorous season.
Double world record holder Faith Kipyegon expressed her elation after a heroic welcome to her home county, Nakuru, organised by Governor Susan Kihika.
Kipyegon has sweet memories of the county since she was born and grew up there. She was raised on a farm in a village near Keringet, Nakuru County and is the eighth of the nine children.

An elated Kipyegon shared on her X (Twitter) saying: “East or West, Home is Best. Thank you Nakuru County Governor, Hon. Susan Kihika, and my great people of Nakuru.”
In a video shared by Mtaa Wangu on X, a band is seen passionately serenading Kipyegon as she hugged Governor Kihika.
The double world record holder is also pictured dancing to the songs with the Governor and other honourable members.
The two-time Olympic champion has enjoyed a great season on the track and is surely enjoying her off-track activities.

ATHLETICS Privileges Faith Kipyegon will enjoy after receiving Kenya's top civilian award
Double Olympic champion and world record holder Faith Kipyegon received Kenya's top civilian award on Tuesday, entitling her to various honors and benefits.
Her track season saw her break three world records, starting with the 1500m world record at the Meeting in Florence, Italy. She then proceeded to break the 5000m world record at the meeting in Paris, France.
However, the 5000m world record has since been broken by Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay at the Prefontaine Classic, the Diamond League Meeting final. Kipyegon then proceeded to break the one-mile world record at the Diamond League Meeting in Monaco.

She also bagged double gold at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, winning the 1500m and 5000m.
Kipyegon summed up her season with an award from World Athletics as the Female World Athlete of the Year in track events. She was also honoured by H.E. President William Ruto with the Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya (E.G.H).
