Double world record holder Faith Kipyegon has one more race to compete in before chasing history at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
After having her late season opener at the Kenyan Olympic national trials, Faith Kipyegon is yet to compete in any other meet ahead of the Olympic Games and she has just been confirmed for the Diamond League Meeting in Paris, France scheduled for July 7.
Kipyegon has sweet memories of the meet there since she broke the 5000m world record at last year’s world record. The two-time Olympic 1500m champion clocked a stunning 14:05.20 to cross the finish line.
The world record has since been broken by Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay who was also majestic in her run at the Prefontaine Classic, the Diamond League Meeting in Eugene.

Winning the 1500m at the Kenyan Olympic trials has boosted Faith Kipyegon's confidence and she has disclosed plans to double in the 1500m and 5000m at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The 30-year-old opened her season at the Kenyan Olympic trials, hosted at the Nyayo National Stadium, and managed to win both the 1500m and 5000m to book her slot in the Olympic Games.
She started her season with an injury setback since she was to compete at the Diamond League Meeting in Xiamen and the Prefontaine Classic but had to withdraw from both races.
In a post on her social media pages, Kipyegon explained: “Update, I’ve been building in a great way lately for a beautiful season ahead. Some weeks back, I got a small muscle problem that was handled well.
“I’m now back in full training, focusing on starting my season in 4 weeks' time at the Kenyan Trials for the Olympic Games.”
Fans had expressed worry about the double world champion’s form but after her run at the trials, it was evident that she is in great shape.
The triple world 1500m champion now eyes double gold at the Olympic Games, with the hope of making history in the 1500m to win her third successive title.
