Femke Bol has broken her own world indoor 400m record at the Dutch Championships.

Femke Bol once again left the audience in awe as she broke her own world indoor 400m record at the Dutch Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn.

Returning to the very track where she made history 12 months prior with a groundbreaking 49.26-second run, Bol outdid herself, clocking an astonishing 49.24 seconds to retain her national title on Sunday.

The 23-year-old's journey to this monumental achievement began earlier this month in Metz, where she opened her season with a formidable 49.69 seconds.

She continued to showcase her escalating form by improving her time to 49.63 seconds in Lievin.

On Saturday, Bol won her heat in Apeldoorn with a comfortable 50.55 seconds, hinting at the explosive performance that was to come.

Her final run on Sunday, leading from the 200m mark and powering through to the finish line, marked her sixth career sub-50-second indoor run.

Hot on her heels was Lieke Klaver, who also made headlines with a personal best of 50.10 seconds, catapulting her to ninth on the world indoor all-time list.

In a post-race interview, Bol shared her emotions with World Athletics, saying, “I never get used to it, especially with all these people cheering on home soil. It’s a dream come true to run another world record, and it’s wonderful to have all these Dutch fans enjoying the most beautiful sport in the world.”

Bol's record-breaking run at the Dutch Indoor Championships is not just a testament to her exceptional talent but also a beacon of inspiration for aspiring athletes worldwide.

It reaffirms her status as one of the leading figures in track and field, setting the stage for her next challenge at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow.
