Commonwealth Champion, Ferdinand Omanyala has confirmed his participation at Diamond League meetings this year, but won't reveal where his debut will be.
Kenya's 100m star Ferdinand Omanyala, has confirmed he will be participating in Diamond League meetings this year.
Omanyala, who had a breakthrough year in 2022, has never competed at any Diamond League meet, with his major competitions being the World Championships in Oregon, Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, African Championships in Mauritius, and a few meet in Europe.

He has now confirmed he will be part of the 2023 Diamond League season via a Twitter post by Kenya's leading journalist Lynne Wachira.
"You will definitely see me in the Diamond League, I can't reveal where my debut will be, but it's happening. I got some invitations last year, but they clashed with the Africa Championships, which was a priority," Wachira tweeted.
The African Record (AR) holder in the men's 100m already stated earlier this year that he has his goals set on winning the 100m World title in Budapest, the Diamond League title, and breaking his African Record AR of 9.77s.

He stated this in an interview with Kenya's Daily Star. "I am looking forward to another successful season. This year, I want to accomplish three primary things. My sights are set on winning the World Championships, the Diamond League, and smashing the African Record."
Omanyala in the 2023 indoor season
Last month at the World Indoor Tour meet in Lievin, France, he clocked a new 60m Kenyan record of 6.54s; to defeat Olympic Champion Marcell Jacobs, who raced to 6.57s.
Omanyala deserves to be respected and no longer underrated
By doing this, he erased his previous national record by 0.01s to earn his third consecutive victory in the 60m indoor race, dropping his 60m Personal Best (PB) from 6.66s to 6.55s and now 6.54s.
Omanyala racing to a world-leading time
In his first outdoor meet in his home country, the African Champion stormed to a blazing 9.85s to win his 100m heat at the AK Weekend Meet at Nyayo Stadium. The time is the fastest in history at the period of the year (February).
He lowered it to 9.81s in the final but it was later disregarded by World Athletics for illegal wind reading. Notwithstanding, his performances explain his current fantastic form and what to expect for the rest of the year.
