Omanyala, who is the fastest man in the world so far this year, will be looking to become the first African to win a medal at the World Championships.

Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala has termed his Diamond League meetings as a great tour that has helped him gain more experience as he prepares to go to the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Omanyala made a return to the Diamond League meetings this year since 2021 when he finished fourth in Brussels. He opened his campaign this year with a third-place finish in Rabat, Morocco.

The Commonwealth champion then proceeded to Florence, Italy where he also finished second. He then summed up his tour at the Diamond League in Paris, France where he also finished second.

“The tour was amazing because competing at such a high level gives you a high-level experience. It enables you to have a wider mentality and it prepares you very well for the upcoming games including the World Championships,” Omanyala said.

Omanyala, who is the fastest man in the world so far this year, will be looking to become the first African to win a medal at the World Championships and he is bullish about making that dream come true.

He has shown consistency in his performances and might just realise his dream. He opened his campaign with a win at the second Athletics Kenya meeting where he won and proceeded to his international outdoor tour in South Africa.

He won two of the races he was competing in and proceeded to the Botswana Golden Grand Prix where he reigned supreme in the 100m. After the fruitful Botswana outing, he returned to the country and displayed a stunning show to win the Kip Keino Classic in 9.84, a world-leading time.
