Ferdinand Omanyala has revealed his greatest achievement in the 2023 track and field season.
Reigning Commonwealth Games 100m champion Ferdinand Omanyala has disclosed the highlight of his 2023 season was finishing among the top five in the world ranking.
The 27-year-old is ranked fourth behind the trio of Great Britain’s Zharnel Hughes and the American duo of Christian Coleman and Noah Lyles, who posted the same times, 9.83.

Omanyala comes in fourth, having run a world-leading time of 9.84 at the Kip Keino Classic, the Continental Tour Gold Series back in May.
Speaking to Pulse Sports, he said: “Finishing fourth in the world rankings this season…that has been my greatest achievement of 2023.”
Omanyala also made a return to the Diamond League Meetings, starting off with the Meeting in Rabat, Morocco where he finished third behind former World Champion Fred Kerley and the former African record holder Akani Simbine.
Africa’s fastest man then proceeded to the Diamond League Meeting in Florence, Italy where he finished second behind Kerley before also finishing second at the Meeting in Paris, France.

He then competed at the Diamond League Meeting in Monaco and became the first Kenyan to win the 100m at a Diamond League Meeting.
After the Meetings, he proceeded to the World Championships where he faded to finish seventh in the final but came back at the Prefontaine Classic, the Diamond League Meeting final where he finished third behind Coleman and Lyles.
“I was also glad to be back to the Diamond League Meetings.I ran my first Diamond League in 2021 so this year,I was just getting back to it because last year we had a lot of championships,” Omanyala said.
