Omanyala crossed the finish line first in a time of 10.01 seconds despite slowing down towards the end to keep his Olympic preparations on course.

Africa’ fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala’s preparations for the upcoming Paris Olympic games are well on course after he managed to secure a at the FBK games in Hengelo, Netherlands on Sunday night.

Omanyala crossed the finish line work in a time of 10.01, finishing ahead of Ronnie Baker  of the United States on  10.03s, while Andre de Grasse finished 3rd in 10.07s.

The FBK Games, part of the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold, provided Omanyala with a crucial opportunity to assess his preparedness ahead of the Olympics. Coming into the event in impressive form, Omanyala had clocked a remarkable 9.79 seconds in Nairobi last month, the second fastest time in the world this year.

“Hengelo for us will be like a time trial so I will go there and push hard so that I know where we are before we head to the pre-Olympic camp in Miramas. It will be like a designer for our program heading to the Olympics,” Omanyala told Capital Sport in a recent interview.

He added, “It will help us to know where we are, what to work on, our strengths and weaknesses and this will be very important for our preparation for the Olympic Games.”

The Hengelo race marks Omanyala’s sixth race of the season. The 26-year-old has strategically limited his race schedule this year to ensure he remains in peak condition.

His coach, Geoffrey Kimani, believes that Omanyala is currently in an optimal state, having already completed much of the necessary work this season. Kimani noted that the Hengelo race serves as a roadmap toward the Paris Olympics.

Jamaican sprinter Kishane Thompson currently holds the world-leading time of 9.77 seconds, achieved at the Jamaican Olympic trials in Kingston last Friday. Omanyala's performance in Hengelo, combined with his earlier achievement in Nairobi, places him among the top contenders for Olympic gold.

As Omanyala continues his preparations, his recent victories and strategic approach to racing highlight his potential to make a significant impact at the Paris Olympics. With his current form and focused training, Omanyala is poised to bring glory to Kenya and Africa on the global stage.
