Several meets took place in Europe last week where outstanding performances were recorded by athletes, with the highlight being the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston, which lived up to the hype.

Top athletes produced impressive performances to kickstart their season, while others continued with the brilliant momentum with which they started the season.

Here are the five best male performers last week, based on their exceptional performances in various meets globally.

Armand Duplantis

The Pole Vault World Record (WR) holder in his season debut cleared a world-leading mark of 6.10m to win the event at the Mondo Classic in Uppsala, Sweden.

It is the highest season debut in history and Duplantis's best career opener, as his previous season debuts since 2017 were 5.61m, 5.83m, 5.51m, 6.00m, 6.01m, and 6.02m last year, which he went on to break his WR on several occasions in 2022.

The 60m Hurdles WR holder marked his season debut at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, first clocking a world-leading time of 6.39s, and lowered it to 6.38s to convincingly win the final.

Noah Lyles

The World 200m Champion stunned former World Indoor Champion Travon Brommel to win the 60m final at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix.

At the Val-De-Ruil meet, Burkina Faso's Hugues Zango jumped a massive world lead of 17.48m to win the men's triple jump.
