Kerley had started off on a quite wanting note in the Heats where he finished second.

It was a woeful Sunday evening for the 2022 World champion Fred Kerley who failed to make the cut to the 100m final at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Kerley had started off on a quite wanting note in the Heats where he finished second. Coming into the semifinal, he did not seem confident of his chances and ended up finishing third in 10.02 and failed to proceed to the final.

However, he remains optimistic as he eyes further glory. In a post-race interview with the media, Kerley noted he is a champion and they never quit.

“I’m one of those guys, I’m always motivated…this is just track and field. I’m a competitor and this just means there was a better man on this day. I’m ready for any challenge,” he said.

He added that he will keep his personal life private and whatever happens behind the scenes and noted that whatever happens on the track remains on the track.

“I can’t complain because this is just the sport…it’s part of the game. But I’m a champion,” he said.

Going forward, Kerley will be heading to the Diamond League Meeting in Xiamen, China where he hopes to bounce back in style.

He added that his journey so far has been a blessing and he will not be giving up anytime soon. He also urged his fans to keep supporting him as he heads to the next assignments.
