Fred Kerley has outlined his Olympic training strategy and event focus, but he must first clear the initial hurdle of qualifications at the US Olympic trials.

American sprinter Fred Kerley has unveiled his ambitious plans for the upcoming Olympics aiming to compete in both the 100m and 200m races.

Kerley, who has recently shifted his training regimen under the guidance of new coach Quincy Watts in California, shared his strategy during a press conference before the Diamond League meet in Xiamen.

The 2022 World 100m champion expressed confidence and excitement about his current form as the outdoor season kicks off.

"Not too many changes for an Olympic year but I know I have to stay grounded, listen to what my coaches say to elevate what I do," he said.

The sprinter is entering a bulking phase spending considerable time in the weight room.

"I’m in the weight room now, I’m in a bulking phase in the gym, trying to turn over the speed in the gym to the track," Kerley explained.

This strategic physical preparation is aimed at enhancing his explosive speed which will be crucial in both sprint events.

Adding a playful twist to his Olympic aspirations, Kerley joked about participating in the 100m, 200m, and 400m at the US Olympic Trials.

However, he clarified that his true intention is to focus on the 100m and 200m races.

"I keep the main thing the main thing, and right now that’s the 100m," he stated, highlighting his primary focus for the Olympic trials.

His revelation sets the stage for an exciting showdown with his compatriots and international rivals at the upcoming games.
