At the LSU Invitational this weekend, Godson Brume will be gunning to be the first Nigerian sprinter with a legal sub-10s time in 2023.
This 2023 season has certainly been a breakout year for Godson Brume, one that he will hope his fortunes continue when he races in the 100m at the LSU Invitational this weekend.
Brume is scheduled to race in the 100m. Considering his impressive performance last weekend, defeating Olympians and World silver medallist Marvin Brace with a windy time of 9.97s. This performance earned him his first USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week.

NCAA Godson Brume awarded National honour, named USTFCCCA Athlete of the Week
LSU's Godson Brume has gained a significant recognition in his college career, being named the male National Athlete of the Week.
With the speedster now booming in confidence to run his first legal sub-10s time, the Louisiana State University (LSU) sophomore sprinter will run in front of his school crowd on the track he trains every day.
The LSU track is known to be very fast, and so will be gunning to smash his Personal Best (PB) of 10.12s with a legal 9 seconds, surpassing the World Championships qualifying standard.
If he successfully does this, Brume will become the first Nigerian sprinter to run a sub-10s time this year and the thirteenth in history - the last being Favour Ashe when he ran 9.99s to win the Nigerian title in 2022.
Brume is also expected to anchor his 4x100m school team, and they'll gun to lower their 38.36s recorded last week.
Meanwhile, Nigerian Record holder in the 400m Hurdles, Ezekiel Nathaniel will line up in his trademark event targetting a new Season's Best (SB).
Nathaniel, has an SB of 49.24s set last month, so rewritting this time will be an utmost priority.
