Chepkirui will now head to the London Marathon scheduled for Sunday, April 23.
Commonwealth Games 10,000m bronze medallist Sheila Chepkirui has been forced to withdraw from the Boston Marathon to a visa hitch.
Chepkirui, who would be making her second appearance over the 42km distance could not obtain a US Visa in good time hence hindering her from travelling for the marathon scheduled for Monday, April 17.
The news was confirmed by Chepkirui’s management, Ikaika Sports, on their Twitter handle saying: “Sheila Chepkirui had to be withdrawn from the Boston Marathon due to a failure to obtain US visa.
We are hopeful Sheila will be racing in the US during the summer and we hope to see her in the Boston Marathon in the future. Many thanks to Boston Marathon for all the efforts made.”
