She added that her daughter found it a bit easy to blend in since she is still young, unlike her spouse who is still learning.
The two-time world champion had to overcome a fierce challenge from Teferi who ran shoulder to shoulder with her until the final 200 meters of the race where the Ethiopian unleashed a finishing kick to take the top honours.
“I think the lady was so strong. I was like a little bit tired, but I decided to give it a try and work harder…but she was strong,” Obiri insisted.
This marked Obiri's first loss in her decorated season that saw her take top honors at the New York City and Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathons.
She also reigned supreme at the Boston Marathon, her second marathon since she made her debut last year at the New York City Marathon. She also reigned supreme at the Kenya Defense Forces Championships where she was competing in the 5000m race.

ATHLETICS No respite! Hellen Obiri confirmed for next month's New York Mini 10K
Obiri will be making her debut in the race after winning the New York City Half in March and the Boston Marathon in April.
Both women smashed the 21-year-old event record of 30:29 set by Morocco’s Asmae Leghzaoui.
“Until the very end, I was trusting in God that I could win, that I could beat her. I knew that Hellen had a stronger kick than me.
We were both kind of tired and had been competitive throughout. But as we approached the end I was just thinking, if she comes let her come. I just have to go for it,” Teferi said.
