Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala is not resting on his laurels as he hopes to continue making a name for himself on the global stage.
The 28-year-old has started the season on a promising note and he hopes to build on that ahead of upcoming assignments including the Olympic Games in Paris, France, where he will be hoping to achieve a podium finish.
The Commonwealth Games champion noted that working with his current coach, Geoffrey Kimani has worked wonders and he can’t wait to see how the season will unfold.

His first global competition this season was the World Indoor Championship where he finished fourth in the final of the 60m. Speaking about how he plans to tackle the global events this season, Omanyala noted that he will continue working with his coach to ensure he is well-prepared for the tasks ahead.
“We just have to do what we are doing now because changing coaches has really helped…I can’t wait to see what the outdoor season has to offer,” Omanyala said.
The African record also noted that they will reduce the number of races he will be competing in and because of that, he will not be competing at the African Games.

Ferdinand Omanyala's younger brother, Isaac Omurwa has opened up on why he looks up to Jamaican sprinters apart from his elder brother.
Last season, Omanyala ran a total of 39 races, something he believes derailed him and cost him a medal at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
“We are reducing the number of races this season ahead of the Olympic Games. I’ve been making progress and it doesn’t matter the amount but as long as it’s progress,” Omanyala added.
Omanyala has enjoyed a great indoor tour, shattering his own national record twice and he will certainly hope to transfer the same energy to the outdoor races.
