Kigen clocked 2:10:18 to cross the finish line first ahead of Moses Mwangi who clocked 2:10:26 to finish second as Patrick Kipchirchir clocked 2:11:59 to complete the podium.

After the race, Kigen admitted that he was elated to have redeemed himself after a poor show at the Nairobi City Marathon back in July this year. He also finished eighth at the La Route du Louvre in France.
He also admitted that he was not aiming for victory since he was not expecting to beat the strong athletes who were also lining up for the race.

“For me, running here today (Sunday) was not about winning…it was simply about trying my best.
"I ran in the Classic this year and I did not perform well because I had not prepared well. So, today (Sunday) is a much better outcome and I am very happy about it,” Kigen explained.
