Noah Lyles has clarified what he meant when he attacked NBA players as he revealed he has no bad blood towards them.

Noah Lyles has clarified the reason why he called out the National Basketball Association players as he revealed that he has no hatred towards them.

The Olympic champion, in an exclusive interview with the Guardian, revealed that he just wanted to show how the NBA have marketed itself very well that people have actually believed they are world champions despite competing against themselves in their league.

He wanted to point out how track and field needs to embrace their level of marketing and actually let the world know how great the sport is and give them the right exposure they have. Noah Lyles revealed that in fact, basketball was his first love and his statement was taken out of context.

At the Paris Olympic Games, the US went on to claim the Olympic title, beating hosts France and shutting down Noah Lyles.

“I have no animosity toward the NBA. Basketball was my first love. I’m not wishing for the downfall of anybody. The reason I brought that up was to show that the NBA does a good job with its marketing strategy. They’re not actual world champions, but they’ve ingrained the idea so deeply that you can’t tell anybody anything else,” Noah Lyles said.

At last year’s world championships in Budapest, Hungary, Noah Lyles won the 100m and 200m and during a press conference, he was asked about what he would track and field to look like in the coming years,

He brutally aimed a dig at the NBA players as he compared track and field to his professional basketball counterparts. He revealed that the basketball players see the US as the world but athletes are the only ones who fight for medals against other competitors from Europe, Africa and other places in the world.

“You know the thing that hurts me the most is that I have to watch the NBA Finals and they have ‘world champion’ on they head. World champion of what? The United States? Don’t get me wrong, I love the US, at times, but that ain’t the world,” Lyles said.

“We are the world. We have almost every country out here fighting, thriving, putting on their flag to show they are represented. There ain’t no flags in the NBA.”
